Urban Re-Wilding Project
In urban landscapes, we have modified the environment to meet human needs, but we often forget about the other wild beings around us. Re-wilding is a practice of restoring space for pollinators, birds, and other animals in the urban environment by planting native plants and building urban soils back to natural fertility. Even if you don’t have much space, a few flowers can change the world for a bee buzzing from one garden to another. By working with the plants and animals that live here, we build a closer connection to nature and move towards a more peaceful human-nature coexistence.
We will work together to make the landscape around your home an ecosystem full of life. We will start with an assessment of what is already growing and living there and make a plan for how to move forward. This could look like:
Non-chemical invasive removal
Lawn replacement with a native wildflower meadow
Planting herbs, flower, shrubs, or trees to support wildlife food and habitat
Planting to encourage a specific pollinator, like the ruby throated hummingbird
We are passionate about restoration and supporting the native ecosystems in Vermont. We would love to help you with any re-wilding projects.
